SECURITY

Security at The Bite Me Food Challenge

The short version: we built The Bite Me Food Challenge to be careful with your information, and this page says plainly how.

Your password

Passwords are stored only as secure cryptographic hashes — a scrambled fingerprint of the password, never the password itself in plain text. Nobody at The Bite Me Food Challenge can read your password, and we will never ask you for it.

Encryption on every page

The whole site runs over HTTPS with an active SSL certificate. Anything you send us — signing in, updating your profile, submitting an attempt — travels encrypted between your device and our server.

Payments

Payments are handled by Stripe. When you pay for something, your card number goes to Stripe and is processed there — it never touches our server and is never stored on this site.

What other people can see

Your public identity on The Bite Me Food Challenge is your alias. Your email address and real name are not displayed publicly — they stay on your account, for sign-in and account messages only.

What we ask of you

Use a password you don't reuse on other sites, and keep it to yourself. We will never email, call, or message you asking for your password or your card number — if someone does, it is not us. If you ever see something suspicious involving this site or your account, tell us through the Contact page and we will look into it.
